Abstract
This article is devoted to the problem of applying the contextual approach in the educational process when teaching students foreign language. The author emphasizes that the common use of a foreign language is different from the language of a professional orientation, therefore, while studying at the university, students need to improve their level foreign language communicative competence related to their future professional activities. The author describes stages of teaching a foreign language, which will contribute to the development of knowledge and skills of students in the professional the local area. A way of learning, which is carried out by learning first words isolated from the context to their use in given speech models, and, finally, the construction by students of their own sentences and phrases with the aim of communicative interaction, is the most effective, since this is a way of learning from a simple to the complex. Contextual learning, if properly planned and organized, allows for increase the level of students' motivation to learn a foreign language, improve the foreign language communicative and professional competence
